Bead receivers and coping: what's the difference?

Two small parts with different jobs. Understanding your liner type helps you choose the right way to keep it in place.

The liner determines the attachment

Above-ground pool liners do not all attach the same way. Two common styles are beaded liners and overlap liners. Before choosing replacement parts, identify your liner style and check your pool manufacturer's compatibility guidance.

What a bead receiver does

A bead receiver is a track fitted along the top edge of the pool wall. The bead on a compatible beaded liner slips into this track. When replacing a liner, inspect the receiver for cracks, damage, and missing sections rather than assuming the existing track is ready to reuse.

What overlap coping does

An overlap liner extends over the top of the pool wall. Coping strips help hold that folded edge in position beneath the pool's upper assembly. They serve a different purpose from a bead receiver and should be selected to match the pool's construction.

Choose fit over guesswork

Measure carefully and confirm the attachment style before ordering. If you are switching liner types, ask the pool or liner manufacturer which parts are required for your specific model. A correct match helps avoid unnecessary adjustments during installation.
