Keeping your winter pool cover secure
Wind can put a pool cover to the test. A secure fit and regular checks help keep your winter setup in good shape.

Begin with the right cover
Use a winter cover sized and designed for your pool. Check for tears and worn attachment points before installation, and follow the cover manufacturer's directions for water level and securing the cover. Cover clips supplement the recommended attachment system; they do not replace it.
Add support at the top rail
Compatible winter cover clips grip the cover at the pool's top rail and can help reduce lifting in windy conditions. Confirm that the clip fits your rail profile and install it as directed. Do not force a clip onto a rail it was not designed to fit.
Check after changing weather
Inspect the cover and its attachments regularly, especially after strong winds or storms. Follow the manufacturer's guidance for removing accumulated water, snow, or debris. Avoid pulling sharply on a frozen cover or using tools that could puncture it.
Keep safety separate
A standard winter cover is not a safety cover. Keep children and pets away from the covered pool, maintain appropriate barriers, and never walk or stand on the cover. If you need a safety cover, choose a system specifically rated for that purpose.
